jean weatherwax
a generalist, by happy accident.
happiest when I can get outside regularly.
Broad training. Deep curiosity. Hardware & circuits first. Software, always.
I care about the thing on the other side of the screen, the person who has to use what I build, and whether it actually makes their life a little better. I like hard problems in many disciplines. I go deep on new things, often. I change my mind when the evidence asks me to. Most recently, the founder chapter. Co-founded an AI company, wound it down, kept the lessons. Before that, led engineering at First Round Capital for three and a half years. Before that, a scattered list of places that each taught me something lasting.

- Memristor CIM Simulator 2026
where energy goes in a compute-in-memory crossbar. every parameter traces to a paper.
calibrated simulator of a memristor crossbar. for high-conductance hfo2 cells, the crossbar dominates per-inference energy, not the adc. a revisit of old hp labs territory with the tools of now. · github ↗
- BaseBeta 2019 →

- A stealth AI company 2025 — 2026
co-founded. wound down. kept the lessons.
